WHY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION?
To me, studying in early childhood education is totally a coincidence. To be honest, I don’t really have any interest in early childhood education. But as time pass by, I got in to it. Learning new things on how to teach children on their early stage. At that time, my niece and nephew were born and learning these things were very helpful. It forces me to communicate with other people that I am not used to - with this it got me thinking, both of my parents are teachers so, getting into teaching can make them proud of me. As I was learning new and meaningful things, I realized that children are very fragile and there are so many children that have issues in their daily life.
That was the time that I really got interested in kids, I keep thinking what can I contribute to make children better in their educations. What can I offer them? I am a passionate person and I do things with passion, I motivate myself to do better in what I do - learning about children is very fun and all you need is a little bit of a fun attitude yourself. And another thing that I learn is, about caring for a child is you have to be as patient as you can be, because when it comes to children, you need to know that every child is different in their own way.
All these things that I am learning right now, I did not know this before. I was blind to see all these things about children. Children sees things differently form us or adults, children are more creative and the way they think is outside the box and that is why children learn things in different ways. As a diploma student in early childhood education, I need to learn these methods on how to educate both normal children and children with special needs.
As I am pursuing to take my diploma, I learn the reasons why children behave the way they do. Knowing this, I use this knowledge to my niece and nephew. It is very useful that I used this technique to make my niece and nephew learn something in advance from me. Besides that, I can tell that this can make people understand about early childhood education diploma, that this diploma can not be taken lightly. Parents need to know about these general knowledge because it is involved in their life. When I was in my first orientation about this diploma, my senior always talked about people who do take it lightly. So, I want to prove those people wrong, that being a kindergarten teacher is important to have basic skills first and taking Early Childhood Education Diploma is the first step on becoming a great person for a child.
